We have two sets of instructions in this document, one for
MacOS 8.x-9.x and MacOS 7.5-7.6, depending on your operating system.
MacOS 8.x-9.x
I. Getting Started
- Double-click on the hard drive icon on your desktop.
- Double-click on the 'Assistants' then on the 'Internet Setup Assistant'.
- One of the following will happen :
- If you are asked to register or update, select the 'Update' button.
- If you are asked if you have an Internet connection, click on 'Yes'.
- If you are asked if you want to set up the computer for the Internet, click on 'Yes'.
- The Internet Setup Assistant will begin.
II. The Internet Setup Assistant
- Read the introduction, then click on the right arrow.
- If asked whether to 'Add', 'Modify' or 'Remove', select 'Add Internet Configuration', then click the right arrow.
- Type Alpha1 into the first field. At the bottom, choose 'Modem' then click the right arrow.
- Select your modem and brand/speed in the box. In the pop-up menu, verify that the Modem Port is selected.
- At the bottom, select 'Tone' and click the right arrow.
- In the first field, type in the Alpha1 phone number found on our PC Configuration Settings web page.
In the second field, enter your login name.
In the third field, enter your password in all lowercase. If you leave this blank, you will be asked for your password each time you use the Internet.
- On the 'PPP Connect Scripts' screen, select 'No', and click the right arrow.
- On the IP Address screen, select 'No' and click the right arrow.
- In the first field, you will type the Primary DNS number found on our configuration web page.
Enter it, and hit the 'Return' key.
- In the field below the Primary DNS field, type in the Secondary DNS number, also found on our configuration web page.
- In the second field, type Alpha1.COM and click the right arrow.
- In the first blank field, type your email address (Example : login@alpha1.net).
In the second field, enter your password in lowercase letters. Click the right arrow.
- In the first field, enter in login@alpha1.net where login is your login/username.
- In the second filed, enter in alpha1.net. Click the right arrow.
- For the news field,type in news.world-net.net and click the right arrow.
- If you are asked if you will use proxy servers for this connection, select 'No'.
- Select the Connect when finished option and then click 'Go Ahead'.
